GOOD magazine is GOOD

Best smart "non-work" mag I have found in a long time, judging by the first issue read.

http://www.goodmagazine.com/

Check it out.

Search on Bruce Bueno de Mesquita and "Game Theory".

"Which illustrates the next incontrovertible fact about game theory: In the foreboding world view of rational choice, everyone is a raging dirtbag."

Who can argue with that kind of logic...BBdM for President!!

Re-plating is an excellent idea that would be beneficial if we could keep the food from blowing off of the cans and all over the ground.

Radgeber Repair is an interesting snippet with a cycling bend.

The BEST ride in the NW hands down!

But also one of the more challenging rides.

In the tunnel

Strike a pose boys!

Quick stop at the top of Snoqualmie to ride the tunnel

Today, I'm the pilot!!

Kachess Lake at ground zero

Just checking out where I want to build my summer cabin, that is one beautiful lake!

Katchess Lake back there

This is the part Eric likes....the climb, over 3000' of climbing.

Another venture into the unknown

A penny for your thoughts.

Men in black

No surprise that Eric has the bottle, we are brothers from another mother man!

Ahh, looks like a guys weekend...2006

Eric finally figured it was long enough and wouldn't be in trouble if these pictures got out.
Usually we just get a six pack of Kokanae to go with the cigars, but for 2006 the plane trip got weathered in so we had to step up the "fun" factor a bit...the cigar was very good.

Creationism -VS- Everything Else

Who is the winner?

Who cares?

Does it matter?

Is there a winner?

Checking out "SEED" (http://www.seedmagazine.com/) and some of the other links just to check any new developments in cellular osmosis. Noticed there is a significant undertone there against Creationism...not that it surprised me too much, but they speak of "an era in which we tremble at offending the sensibilities of our neighbors, students must comprehend that it is not only possible but absolutely vital that we criticize each other's ideas firmly yet civilly. (Thomas W. Martin, http://www.seedmagazine.com/news/2007/09/scientific_literacy_and_the_ha.php?page=2)". Anyone that knows me knows I grok debating anything, but when it comes to "faith" whether it be in Science, Seance, or Christ...it is a personal choice. This is a choice that transcends what the age of this rock or the long lost descendant of this animal, or even what is healthy to eat. Debate love, abortion, sexuality, or whatever. No matter what the "evidence", "facts", or "theory" ends up being...the truth ends up being what action is taken. You either understand love by having been blessed with experiencing it or not, abortion either kills or saves, sexuality is either acted on or not. There is no science to these matters other than to take the "humanity" out of the action. To act is human, to theorize is humane. All that said to say, determining whether or not we can find a cure to save loved ones does not depend on the faith of the patient...only the faith of the cure.
Go forth and science all Creation!
Just leave my faith to me, unless you want a debate you will surely lose.
Science needs to stick to making my mountain bike lighter/stronger, replacing my joints when I break them or wear them out, and allowing the internet to remain open to this type of dialogue.

GROK, my favorite new word...look for it, everywhere!

grok
/grok/, var. /grohk/ vt. [from the novel "Stranger in a Strange Land", by Robert A. Heinlein, where it is a Martian word meaning literally `to drink' and metaphorically `to be one with'] The emphatic form is `grok in fullness'. 1. To understand, usually in a global sense. Connotes intimate and exhaustive knowledge. Contrast zen, which is similar supernal understanding experienced as a single brief flash. See also glark. 2. Used of programs, may connote merely sufficient understanding. "Almost all C compilers grok the `void' type these days."

Anyone got a hangerdoo?

It's amazing, take a really nice guy, add some water, and BANG! They must ride a little "different" in warmer climates. No problem BV, we'll have er' fixed up for the next time and you won't be able to get out of the rain nearly as easily.

Updated fork and disk brake breathes life into the old GT...AGAIN!

The GT seems to have more lives than a cat, 12yrs old and still going strong!

Alex finds an old Schwinn tandem project

Neat tandem Alex picked up for $15, it will be fun for the kids when it is cleaned up and updated with decent brakes...think it'll be a single speed so they don't have to mess with the gears.

Good times!

Thanks to "Friends of Capitol Forrest" for the superb BBQ!!!

Caution - Wet single track ahead with a forcast of FUN!

Sometimes pictures say it all...

Flying lessons

We were blessed with a Bald Eagle sighting, just above the clearing on the left...look REAL close.

Playing "find the trail"

Yes there is a trail there, under the clay...

Trips-for-kids invade Capitol Forrest

Lake Kachess, and the car is parked way over on the left...just off the lake bank

At least the view on the way up is beautiful

In the saddle, almost to the top now!

Heck, from here that don't look steep at all!

The Chute!

Maybe a parachute will be necessary, then we could call it base jumping!

Beautiful view from the top, UP to the saddle.

Ok, 3500' or so climb on steep fire road to get here, now we have to go down the side of this bowl in front of us and climb back up again into the saddle, goooood times baby!

And I thought the climb up the fire road was steep...

Just another 300' and we'll be in the saddle!

Don't slip El Dublay!

That looks real slippery...and it drops all 2000' down to the bottom of the upper bowl huh? Who's idea was this anyway?

Did someone say "there's ICE in them thar hills"?

The Great Northwest schools drivers!

Check out the video on this thread, you'll want to watch it a couple times...try to count how many hits each car takes.

6"+ of snow!

The railing is a 2X4 with another 2X4 laying on top of it!

Snow!

Then it snowed another 2"+ on top of this!
